SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
FEBRUARY 26, 2008

Mayor Lauer called the Special City Council meeting to order. The pledge of allegiance was said. Members present were: Lauer, Libke, Verley, Gutzkow and Cekalla.
People present: Sandy and Dale Fussy; Dale Lenz; Les Mateffy; and Carol Madsen, City Clerk.
Purpose of this Special Meeting is to discuss with Sandy and Dale Fussy the proposed Goat Cheese Processing Plant they would like to put in the Platte River Industrial Park.
Some of the concerns for Sandy and Dale Fussy were:

Cost of land
* Sewer/Water Assessments
* Meeting their deadline – Break ground April 15, 2008, need infrastructure by July 1, 2008
* Location of lot
* JOBZ
It was decided the best lot would be the first lot, which is the northern most lot, in the Platte River Industrial Park. This was agreeable with the Fussy’s since they need to be at least 650’ from the sewer ponds.
The City Council agreed to donate 3 acres of land to the Fussy’s and estimated a sewer and water assessment of $35,000.00.
Les Mateffy, City Engineer, said the City should be able to make the July 1, 2008 deadline.
Mayor Lauer reported that the entire Platte River Industrial Park is in JOBZ.
Fussy reported she will have 5 – 6 employees starting up and within 3 years 10 – 15 employees. She went on to explain the whole goat cheese process.
The Council then discussed the assessment/land/infrastructure options for the entire Platte River Industrial Park. Council Member Libke suggested the City set the assessment at $36,000, which would then be a $12,000 per acre assessment. It was decided to offer the first two businesses, if located next to each other, the same offer of $12,000.00 per acre.
Cekalla made a motion to adjourn at 6:05 p.m., 2nd by Verley. Put to a vote with all members voting aye. Motion carried.
