Jan. 20 After a period of several months in which the Methodist Episcopal Church was being completely remodeled it was reopened Sunday morning when the first of a series of sermons of the day began.  The building was built in 1887 and dedicated June 4 of that year.  The lumber was hauled from Elm Dale and the completed building cost about $1,000.

Feb. 3 Substantial repairs will be made to the iron bridge crossing the Platte River.  The floor of the bridge will be replanked and covered with a hard surface and a steel railing will replace the present railing constructed of wood.

Mar. 31  A fire which started about 6:30 when, Mr. Garber states, a disconnected stove pipe caused clothing on a nearby shelf to ignite, which resulted in destroying all of T. Garber’s stock of clothing and other merchandise and his personal residence in the building adjoining his store.   Smoke and water damage occurred in Dr. Watson’s office.

Mar. 31 J.G. Bargabos and Son have reopened an implement shop in the Dassow building after fire destroyed their building during the winter.

April 7 On Tuesday a large crowd attended the investiture service at Holy Trinity Church when Rev. August Plachta was invested with the ropes of his office of Monsignor.  Monsignor Platcha came to Royalton in 1907 and since then has seen the construction of four churches and done endless mission work.

Apr. 7 Neils Elevator was sold to Wm. Albright of Eden Valley.  The sale also includes the warehouse near the elevator, the potato warehouse and coal shed.

May 12 The fire jinx to a squirt at the Graham block again Sunday night.  The alarm was turned in at one o’clock when the fire was discovered in the rear part of the J.P. Jensen’s grocery store.  Defective wiring no doubt caused the fire.  The stock was badly damaged by smoke and water.

June 2 Five girls graduate from Royalton High School on June 6.

 June 16 Thieves entered F.B. Logan jewelry store Friday night and carried away jewelry valued between 2 to 3 hundred dollars.

June 23 Jefferson Highway construction from St. Cloud to Little Falls began with work on the meadows north of Royalton.   A steel bridge will be built across the Platte River on the south end of the village.

July 7 Royalton was quiet, something unusual for Royalton, Monday.  There was no celebration here and most everyone hired themselves out to the lakes and neighboring towns to shoot fire crackers and drink pink lemonade.  A large crowd attended the dance on the evening at the pavilion between here and Bolwus.

July 14 The Potato Association leased a warehouse from Royalton Grain Co.   The warehouse will be remodeled to handle potatoes faster.  They will be sacked in the basement and then elevated to the ground floor for cars.

July 14 Cameron and Cameron, attorneys at law, will open a law office in the Graham block in Royalton.

Sept. 22 A fairly large crowd of persons who had been informed that there maybe something doing at the Stodolka flying field Sunday afternoon was present to see Tony Kalis make a parachute drop from the airship.

Oct. 27 Last week marked the end of the construction work on the bridge, on Jefferson Highway, crossing the Platte River a short distance south of town.  The bridge is a 120 foot span with a 19 foot hard surface traveling floor.

Nov. 3 James Friary, proprietor of the J.H. confectionery, has leased the M.A. Skroch store building and has installed the equipment for candy making.  He has some examples now but plans to have a full line of candies next week.

Nov. 3 The new road between Little Falls and Royalton is now completed.

Nov. 10   November 11 has been declared a national holiday. “Armistice Day” a national day of remembrance for all those who died in the Great World War.   All citizens are asked to display a flag at their homes and have two minutes of silence from 11 o’clock until 11:02 to remember all those who have died.

Nov. 10 The Holy Cross Catholic Church in North Prairie was completely destroyed by fire Wednesday afternoon.  The fire started in the basement.  Holy Cross was built about 40 years ago.  Excavation for a new basement will be done this fall and a new church built next spring.
