Jan. 25 Ttwo hundred and sixty tickets were sold at the Monday night dance at the Palace Theatre, when Slim Jim and his cowboy orchestra furnished the music for a modern dance.

Mar 15 Another carload of government relief wheat was unloaded and distributed to about 100 farmers for the Buckman Township.

Mar. 29 Roller skating ever Wednesday night and movies every Saturday and Sunday night at the Palace Theatre.

Mar. 29 A new business partnership was formed in Royalton when Clarence Dubiel took over a working partnership with A.V. Miller in the meat Market.  The new firm name will read Miller and Dubiel.

May 10 One of the nastiest dust storms of the season started yesterday and was still blowing today.  Small grain which was above ground is being cut off and covered by drifting soil.  In town tree limbs broke off and street signs are blown over.  Sand and dust blows in around every door and window.

May 17 More then 1,000 persons witnessed the showing of the feature picture “Little Woman” at the Palace Theatre during its three-day run, manager W.H. Gilmer reported.

May 31 High school diplomas will be presented to eight boys and seven girls at commencement exercises tomorrow evening at the Palace Theatre.

May 31 Fulton T. Bell made his farewell tour of rural mail route No. 2 this morning, completing 30 years of continuous service as carrier from the local post office.

May 31 Slot machine robbers broke into Pono’s Place and carried away a slot machine and its contents which were hidden the basement.

May 31 A neon electric sign has been installed above the doorway of Meyer’s Café on Center Street.  The sign reads “Hamm’s Beer” and “Meyer’s Café” in smaller plate.

June 14 John “Buster” Watson leased the gasoline service station owned by Paul Hruska, who built the building in 1930.

June 21 Robbers broke into Meyer’s Café early this morning and carried away the entire stock of cigarette’s valued at about $30.   The café was entered the same way on March 11.

July 5 Royalton’s Fourth of July celebration was a big success with total attendance during the day and evening estimated at 2,000 people.

July 5 A peculiar explosion occurred about 5:30 yesterday afternoon when a lighted match dropped into an abandoned underground gasoline tank ignited gas vapors in the tank and caused a blast which threw gravel and dirt about 40 feet in all directions.

July 12 Two men picked up and carried out a slot machine from Art’s Café on Front Street about 11pm Tuesday while a third man was waiting in a car parked out front.

July 19 Lisle Christenson has rented the Werner building on Center Street, across from the Palace Theatre, will open a Gambles Store agency.

Sept. 13 M.J. Schneider is having the old frame building opposite of Billig’s Service Station, formerly used by him as a tin shop, torn down.  The structure was originally built about 50 years ago by William Dragoo and used many years by Roy Dragoo as a tin shop, hardware store, and bicycle repair shop.

Oct. 11 Frank DeZurik announces that his new liquor store is in the Wilson Building and will open Saturday.

Nov. 1 The stock, fixtures, and business plus the building formerly the Werner Market have been purchased by Leo Kalis, who has reopened for business.

Nov. 15 Out of 150 names entered into the contest to name Frank DeZurik’s bar “Ye Olde Log Bar” was the name chosen.  Willard LaCoursiere won $5 for his entry.

Nov. 22 Work was started this week on the rock and brush dam to be built below the Center Street Bridge on the Platte River as a public works project.

Dec. 20 The Women’s Study Club has made up 600 bags of candy and nuts, from the money they made at the Halloween dance, to be handed out to all the area children who attend the free Christmas movie at the Palace Theatre this Saturday afternoon.
