Feb. 5 Registration of men from 20 to 44 years of age who have not already registered in the selective service will do so on Monday February 16.

Feb. 19 Work of straightening and widening the county highway between Royalton and Bowlus has started.   A number of trees and buildings will be removed.

Mar. 5 An air raid signal practice is being called by H. C. Bargabos, Civilian Defense Chief, at 8:30 p.m. Monday.   The signal will be 3 long, distinct blasts of the fire siren.  The all clear will be one long blast of the fire siren.  All firemen are to report to the engine hall.

Mar. 12 The flour mill owned by Joe Fussy has been purchased by J. A. Will Lumber Co., St. Cloud. The machinery will be removed and the company will soon begin wrecking the building.  The mill has not been operated as a flour mill for a number of years, and even the grinding of farm feeds was discontinued more than a year ago.

Mar. 26 Girl Scout Troop organized with 17 members under the leadership of Miss Jean Christle.

Apr 30 127 Men from Royalton and Bellevue Township, ages 45-65, have registered with the government.  This group of men will not see combat service.  Mainly it is to show the government what occupational experience these men have.

May 28 President Roosevelt has changed the speed limit to 40 mph to aid in the conservation and to help reduce car accidents which may result from worn auto tires.

June 11 The Royalton Civic Club made it possible for local groceries to handle sugar canning rationing.  The article they printed in the “Banner” got state and local attention.  The article showed the waste that would be used it families had to drive to their county seat for sugar canning rationing stamps.

Aug. 6 Over 3,500 persons attend the Sportsmen’s Pow Wow. Picnic’s, races and contests, softball game, trapshooting, retrieving trails for dogs, the usual “midway” of concessions, lunch stands, refreshments, band concert was enjoyed by all until darkness called a halt to the activities.

Sept. 3 The last band concert was held for the season last Wednesday night.  Six of the regular band members have entered the armed forces.  James Hodorff, Richard McGonagle, Cletus Skroch, Willard Conner, Jerre Logan, and Bob Bennewitz.

Sept. 10 A slot machine was stolen from Bob’s Café in Royalton last Thursday night.  The machine was later found smashed near the Riverside Cemetery.  Nothing else was missing.  Reports say that machines were stolen in St. Joseph, Elrosa, Pierz, and Upsala in the past week.

Oct. 29 Bob’s Café, operated by Mr. and Mrs. Bob Lindquist and the formers mother, Mrs. Edna Lindquist, will close to the end of this week.  Mr. Lindquist has been employed as a welder in Philadelphia, Pa. and the family will move there.

Nov. 12 The government said no outdoor Christmas illuminated decorations because of the amount of electricity they use.

Dec. 17 On December 14th saw the first two trial blackouts in Royalton and they turned in two100% performances. By the time the third blast sounded all of Royalton was darkened.

Dec.17 Private First Class Carl B. Masog, 25, Route # 1 Royalton, is the first causality of World War II in Morrison County.   Masog was killed November 8 in the African Area.

Dec. 24 More then 500 school age children were royally entertained at the Civic Clubs annual Christmas program.  A western movie and a Walt Disney cartoon short were shown and afterwards all the children were treated to a bag of peanuts and candy.
