Feb. 9 Advertisement: we invite you to come in and see TELEVISION at Dick’s Log Bar.

Mar. 16 a representative from Northern Pacific Railway Co. asked the village council to remove the old bandstand and two trees from the old park area so the street which joins Hwy 10 at the corner near Schneider’s Café and the Royalton Garage can be curved to the south so as to join State Aid Road No. 1 before reaching the tracks.  All this is to be done this summer so Northern Pacific Railway can install automatic protective gates at the Center Street crossing.

Apr. 6 a hard maple floor will be laid this spring in the Royalton village hall.

Apr. 6 Harold Fisher will be appointed new postmaster here.  He will replace R.W. Plantenberg, who has been acting postmaster since the resignation of L.R. Lisle in August 1948.

Apr. 6 the warehouse of the Royalton Co-op Creamery was destroyed by fire.  It was impossible so save the 30X40X12 feet iron clad frame structure.

Apr. 27 with a half a foot of snow on the ground the first Royalton High School baseball game was postponed.

May 4 the village council granted Roman Smieja a permit to erect a building on the site of the former Litchy Machine Shop that was destroyed by fire in January 1945.

May 18 the new maple floor in the village hall will be finished this week and the first dance will be next Tuesday.

May 25 Roman Smieja started work last week on his new 40 X 60 foot machine shop on Center Street.

May 25 Mr. and Mrs. Schneider are completing renovations on their café.  They have canopy with recessed lighting, new wallpaper through out and enlargement of the booths for more seating room.

June 1 twenty-two seniors of Royalton High School were awarded diplomas as members of the class of 1950 graduating class of Royalton High School at Commencement exercises.

June 1 the old village park is no more.  The bandstand has been removed, the trees have been cut and the Northern Pacific Railway Co. is rebuilding the crossing, preparatory to the installation of new warning gates.  The bandstand was moved and set on blocks near the flagpole east of the village hall awaiting a band.

June 22 the water tower is being painted inside and out this week.

June 22 State Aid Road No. 1 from Royalton to Little Rock is being black topped.

June 25 America enters the war in Korea.

June 29 the Rev. R. E. Lawrence will be installed as the new pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Royalton and St. John’s Church at Dixville and Ramey.  He successes Rev. K Heuchert, who has served here for eight years and help members here build St. Paul’s Church.

June 29 Rev. Ladislaus (Walter) Ohotta, who served at Holy Trinity Catholic Church here from July 1, 1932 to July 15, 1933, will successes Rev. Theodore Wrobel, who has served her for six years.  The parishioners presented Rev. Wrobel a television set as a going way gift.

June 29 the water tower is once again silver in color.  During the war years aluminum was in short supply so the tower was painted black in color.

July 20 Northern Pacific Railroad crews have completed the installation of new crossing protection gates at both crossing here.

Aug. 3 Royalton’s population is 500; it was announced by the census office.  The figure of 500 is 13 persons less then 1940 official figure of 513 which was also the 1930 figure.

Sept. 14 Roman Smieja’s new 40 by 60 machine shop building is completed.  The cinder block and tile structure, with plate glass front stands on the site of the former Litchy Machine Shop on Center Street.

Oct. 1 the KLTF radio station in Little Falls has its first broadcast.

Oct. 12 a gorgeous queen, a tremendous bonfire, a winning football team, and a glorious dance combined to make the annual Homecoming celebration one of the best ever staged here.

Oct. 26 the first copy of the “Royalaire”, a student newspaper edited and published by students of the Royalton High School.

Oct. 26 the ringing of bells in Royalton at 11 A.M. October 24th heralded the 5th anniversary of the founding of the Untied Nations.  American flags were displayed outside all businesses that day.

 

Dec. 1 Dr. A.M. Watson, doctor in Royalton for over 45 years, has been appointed to the county Health Board in Little Falls.

Dec. 23 once again the Civic Club played host to over 400 school aged children for the annual Christmas matinee.
